Announcement: A Glimpse at Structure in Action Presented by Pat Hastings

STRUCTURE IN ACTION is a new workshop. It combines Pat Hastings’ Puppy Puzzle Presentation, as well as Hastings’ discussion of the value of structurally evaluating adult dogs that are being considered for a breeding program, working trials or performance competition.

Dogs will do most anything we ask of them. The question is: Do we want to ask them to do things that they are structurally incapable of doing without breaking down? Is that what we really want to do to our most steadfast companions? The more we learn about canine structure, the more we understand what is reasonable to ask of our dogs, given their physical strengths and weaknesses.

****For Reservations (Deadline April 5, 2014):**** send check or money order payable to NEAA to Pat Viken 876 W. Army Trail Blvd Addison, IL 60101 Home Phone: 630/628-1607 vikrestpat@comcast.net,

Announcement: New Conformation Handling for Pups and Novices Classes with Pat Foley

If either you or your young pup is new to the world of the Conformation Show ring, then this is the opportunity for you! This 7 week class is designed to incrementally build ring skills and confidence in both handlers and their four-legged partners. With an emphasis on fun and positive reinforcement for young dogs, handling teams will learn ring procedure, including gaiting patterns, show stacking and/or table work. Pups will grow accustomed to a variety of social situations, sights, sounds and sensations they are likely to encounter while showing. The class will also address what is proper presentation for both handler and dog, ie. wardrobe and grooming.

These preliminary weeks are all pre-requisite for attendance in the ongoing “drop-in” advanced class, which provides more in depth opportunities to practice and perfect your professional team performance in the show ring.

Wednesday evenings, 6 - 7pm, at Y2K9’s Dog Sports Club, 1000 E. Mermaid Lane u Wyndmoor, PA 19038 Class begins May 14, 2014 and runs 7 weeks To Register, please visit the Y2K9's web site: http://www.y2k9s.net/
