Spotlighting MB-F Employees

We wanted to take some time to introduce and acknowledge the MB-F employees, many of whom are behind the scenes working on your shows every day. We’ll be taking some space in the next few issues to acquaint you with the backbone of our success – the amazing people who have dedicated themselves to the success of every MB-F show.

ELEANORE HAMLIN Superintendent, Bookkeeper, Michigan office

Eleanor’s duties in the Michigan office include balancing bank deposits, payroll, expense accounts, refund checks and monthly financial reports. She has been at MB-F, Michigan, for 24 years, the last 10 of which she has had a superintendent’s license. Prior to coming to MB-F, Michigan, she was responsible for a small business one-girl office handling everything from secretarial, financial, through customer services. She has also worked as an income tax preparer. Eleanore has attended numerous interior design classes. She is also currently pursuing certification in Microsoft Office applications of Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint computer programs. Eleanore is married to Richard, who is also an MB-F Superintendent, and they have three grown children, Rick, Donna and Chris. Their household also contains a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Mandy. Her hobbies include reading, travel, sewing, interior design and decorating. She would like you to know she aspires to do the best job possible at all times. It is also of “uppermost importance to me to extend the same quality, respect, service and professionalism that I expect to receive in a business situation. I thoroughly enjoy working with others to ensure a win-win outcome.”

LESTER TUCKER Truck Driver/Set-Up, Michigan office

Lester’s duties include repairing and painting pickets, washing mats, setting up shows, repairing gates. He has worked for MB-F four years. Prior to that he did landscaping work, operated a bulldozer and was in the Army. He completed courses in landscaping. He received an award for being to work on time every day for a year. Lester has a blended family that includes Robyn, 25; Paul, 24, Christie, 19, and step sons, Marshall, 22; Gary, 18; George, 17 and stepdaughter Trish, 21. His hobbies include bowling, volleyball and having fun. Lester finds working at Westminster interesting because it’s so much work but everyone is still able to laugh while doing their job. He has a Persian cat, Miss Kitty, a German Shepherd Dog, Shelby, a Maltese, Casper, and Toy Poodle, Pierre. Lester wants our MB-F clubs to know he will always to the best he can.

MARYLOU BUDD Ad Department, North Carolina

Marylou’s duties include answering all questions on or about catalog ads. She accepts, logs, delivers to Typesetting Department, makes calls on items needed, does teardown and return of photos, artwork or disks to club. She also mails judging programs to the Show Chairman, Veterinarian, Photographer, Chief Steward for all shows. She prepares special club mailings to their memberships and collates the stewards’ books for each show. Marylou has been at MB-F, North Carolina, 21 years, beginning in the mailroom and bindery, Dial-N-Entry, and switchboard on her way to the Ad Department. Her prior experience was with Northwest Orient Airlines in ticket reservations and General Telephone in Florida as a long distance/information operator. She had flight attendant training and training in music. She is married to Ken with two daughters, Pamela, 37; Lori Ann, 35. A son, Thomas, is deceased. Her hobbies include singing gospel songs at church and special functions, crocheting, knitting, liquid embroidery, internet surfing and her grandkids. Their household is missing their German Shepherd bitch, Ebony, who passed away in October this year after 13 years as part of their family. Marylou would like you to know she “will always go that extra mile to help – the needs of my customer are always my primary concern.”

BARBARA ZUCHELSKI
Superintendent, Michigan Office

Barbara has been with the MB-F Michigan office for 29 years. She superintends shows and is responsible for judges’ books and prize money coming out of that office. Prior to coming to MB-F Barbara worked as a secretary. Barbara superintended shows along with her late husband, Norman. They have three children, Debra, 41; Mark, 39, and Lisa, 36. Barbara’s household also has a dog, Julie.

Supervisor, Print Shop Operations, North Carolina

Mike’s duties include the supervision of the MB-F Print Shop and Typesetting Department and describes his job as “hectic”. He has worked for MB-F, North Carolina, for 15 years, beginning in Set-Up, moving to the Press and Bindery Departments. Prior to coming to MB-F he worked at welding and bartending. His hobbies include landscaping and real estate. Mike is married to another MB-F employee, Kim, and he has a daughter, Connie, 23. The Robinsons have two Miniature Schnauzers, Ashley and Doc Holiday.

SUSAN DOBSON Office, North Carolina

Susan’s duties include interoffice billing and assisting with judges’ books, judging programs and premium lists and the switchboard. Prior to these duties she worked in the premium list department. She has been with MB-F, North Carolina, for two years. She previously worked in sales and office positions for a commercial printing company. Susan and her husband, John, have a daughter, Danielle, 5. The household also includes an American Shorthaired cat, Buddy. She enjoys cooking and spending time with her daughter. She states that when she first started her job two years ago “the people of MB-F were very friendly and helpful and to this day it continues to be that way.” Susan would like the MB-F clubs to know that she enjoys her job and finds it exciting and different.

AMY WALL Advertising Department, North Carolina office

Amy has been with MB-F, North Carolina, for four-and-a-half years. Her duties include layout design of catalog advertising and many other MB-F projects (including the MB-F Newsletter) and loading disks from outside sources. Prior to coming to MB-F Amy worked as a designer for furniture fabric samples. She has an Associate Degree in Commercial Graphics from Randolph Community College. Amy is single and her hobbies include snow skiing. She enjoys the reward of having someone contact us with praise for a job well done.

MARIE L. REED Office, North Carolina

Marie’s duties include opening mail, preparing envelopes for request mail and filing. She has been working at MB-F, North Carolina, for 14 years, beginning in the Entry Department, Proofreading and Premium List Departments. Marie is married to another MB-F employee, J.R. Their household includes cats, Lucky, Maxx, Tabitha and Sam and dogs, Brandy and Kasey. She includes her animals among her hobbies and loves going to the beach. She met her husband at MB-F and wants you to know she is a very dedicated employee. “I consider MB-F as my home away from home. We are just like a great big happy family.”

BARBARA Z. URBAN Data Entry, Michigan office

Barbara has worked with the Michigan office entry department for 20 years. She has one daughter, Alison, who will be 17 in January.

 

LISA SMITH Data Entry, Michigan office

Lisa does data entry and is also responsible for the judges’ books that go out of the Michigan office and fills in wherever else there’s work to be done. She has been with the MB-F Michigan office for 17 years. Lisa and husband, Tim, have three children, Michelle, 8; Jessica, 5 and Jennifer, 5 . They share their house with a Yorkshire Terrier, Julie.

Receptionist, Michigan Office

Charlene has been with the MB-F Michigan office for one year. Her duties include answering the phone, filing, opening mail and copying documents. Prior to joining MB-F she worked as a waitress and as a cashier and attended cosmetology school. She describes herself as “very single” and her hobbies include rollerblading and surfing the Internet. She has a Labrador, Buddy.

JILL KINSORA Data Entry and answering phones, Michigan office

Jill has been with MB-F, Michigan, for six years. She describes her job as busy with never a dull moment. Prior to coming to MB-F she worked in accounting and bookkeeping positions. Jill and husband, John, have three children, Shannon, 17; John, 16, and Anthony, 10. Jill attended community college and took courses in Accounting and Bookkeeping and Computer Accounting. Her hobbies are her kids, sports and music. They have a mixed-breed dog, Station.

MARK BINGHAM MB-F, North Carolina

Mark’s talents find him assisting in many departments – Pre-Press, Press, Bindery and Mail Room. In addition, he also assists Mike Robinson. He began his career at MB-F in the Press Department. Mark has been with MB-F for nearly six years. Prior to coming to MB-F he worked at a commercial printing company. Mark is single and includes snow skiing, hunting, golf and most outdoor activities as hobbies. He would like the MB-F clubs to know he tries to do his job in a professional and timely manner. “It is rewarding to produce a product that is seen by the public and know that it is appreciated.”

NORM LARANGE Truck Driver/Set-up, Michigan Office

Norm has been with the MB-F Michigan office for five years. Prior to joining the MB-F family he owned a home improvement business. He is married to wife, Sue, and has a blended family of nine children: Steve, 24; Richard, 22; Larry, 20; Crystal, 19; James, 18; Kristal, 17, Nicholas, 15, Danielle, 9 and Norm II, 4. They have two dogs – a German Shorthaired Pointer, Timmy, and a Maltese, Casper. Norm’s hobbies include hunting, fishing and chasing his stepkids. He’s won an award for Lake Trout. Norm would like all our MB-F clubs to know he tries to give 100% every time he does a show. (Editor’s Note: Please see Norm’s article appearing in this issue.)

ROBERT REAVIS Bindery Department, North Carolina

Robert’s duties include assembling catalogs, premium lists and judging programs. He has been with MB-F, North Carolina, for two years. Prior to that he worked in quality control and as a writer. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Carolina University. Robert is single and his interests include writing, reading and Jaguars. He was pleased to have episodes of Ruffles and Lydia published in the MB-F Newsletter. His household has a Tabby cat, Gigi. Robert would like MB-F clubs to know he always tries to be responsible, proficient and meticulous in performing his job.

KIM STRONG ROBINSON Office, North Carolina

Kim’s duties include managing the office, writing and proofreading judging programs, customer service and overseeing office functions. She has been at MB-F, North Carolina, for just over three years. Prior to coming to MB-F she was a professional handler. Kim is married to MB-F employee, Mike, and she has a stepdaughter, Connie, 23. They share their household with two Miniature Schnauzers, Ashley and Doc Holiday. Her hobbies include reading, walking, landscaping and decorating. When she came to work she was “totally unsuspecting that I would meet my future husband there. Also I think it is wonderful that MB-F allows employees to bring their dogs to work, which we do every work day.” Kim would like all the MB-F clubs to know she can be reached at extension 259.

JENNIFER GARNER Typesetting Department, North Carolina

Jennifer’s job includes layout and design of catalog ads. She has been with MB-F, North Carolina, for 10 years. Prior to coming to MB-F she worked in the Advertising Department for Belk’s stores. Jennifer has an Associate Degree in Commercial Graphics. Jennifer and husband, Andy, have two children, Joshua, 3, and Lauren, 1. She enjoys cross stitch, reading and spending time with her kids. She would like MB-F clubs to know she tries to lay out ads to meet their approval and tries to make everything look as nice as possible.

HUGH M. WITT III Judging Program Department, North Carolina

Pete’s job includes writing judging programs and managing the e-mail traffic. He has been with MB-F, North Carolina, for almost one year. He retired from the US Air Force after 20 years in January, 1999. Pete has a BS in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and lists “computers” as his hobby. Pete is single and has three sons, Jimmy, 20; Billy, 19 and Joseph, 12. Pete’s household contains Bulldogs, Max and Kelly; French Bulldog, Molly, and Greyhound, Lany.

NICOLE HERON Data Entry, Michigan

Nicole’s duties include data entry, proofreading and processing entries. She has been working for MB-F, Michigan, for 12 years. She is currently working toward an Associate Degree and plans on getting a Bachelor’s Degree in a computer related field. Nicole has a daughter, Caitlin, 3 , and they share their household with a Guinea Pig, Gizmo. Nicole’s hobbies include reading, tennis, and anything she can do with her daughter. She wants the MB-F clubs to know that “everyone’s entries are important to us and we do everything we possibly can to make it possible for your entries to get into the show.”

JANE BAYNES Typesetting Department, North Carolina

Jane’s duties include typesetting judging programs, ring signs, posters, catalog covers, show layouts and maps and the in-house newsletter, The Dog House. Jane has been at MB-F, North Carolina, for 14 years, beginning in the Ad Department. Her previous experience was in child care. She has completed a Total Quality Management and Teambuilding course. Jane and her husband, Rick, have a son, Joey, 21, who is finishing his last year at Pensacola Christian College. Their household also has a Smooth Dachshund, Blackie, and a Cocker Spaniel, Happy. Away from work Jane enjoys deep sea fishing and saltwater fishing.

MARGARET LASH Typesetting Department, North Carolina

Margaret’s duties include proofreading catalog ads. She began working at MB-F, North Carolina, about four months ago. Prior to coming to MB-F she trained and showed German Shepherd Dogs. Margaret is single and has two children, Alethea, 26, and Shannon, 28. She shares her household with a German Shepherd Dog, Mikala. She still considers going to shows her hobby.

CORDELIA REYNOLDS Ribbon Department, North Carolina

Cordelia’s duties include making rosettes, pulling side streamers and heads and counting ribbons. She has worked at MB-F, North Carolina, for six years. Prior to coming to MB-F she worked as a nursing assistant, dispatcher, waitress and cashier. Cordelia has three children, James, 35; Sarah, 34, and Charles, 25. She enjoys bowling and doing crossword puzzles.

DONNA SHARRIE Ribbon Department, North Carolina

Donna’s job includes typesetting for ribbons and judge’s catalogs, packing judge’s bags and stamping judges’ names on catalogs. Donna has worked at MB-F, North Carolina for 18 years. Prior to that time she worked at a hosiery mill and McDonald’s. Donna has a son, Chris, 20.

BARBARA COVINGTON Advertising Department, North Carolina

Barbara’s duties include typing copy for ads, scanning photos, logos; typing premium lists and group sheets. She has been working at MB-F, North Carolina, nine years, beginning in the Entry and Dial-N-Entry Departments. Barbara has three children, Crystal, 23; Laura, 21, and Christopher, 18. Her household includes a Siberian Husky, Shadow, and a longhaired alley cat, Patches.

BARBARA COVINGTON Advertising Department, North Carolina

FLOYDRICKA PETTRESS Ribbon Department, North Carolina

Flo runs an automatic press in the Ribbon Department. She has been with MB-F for two years. Prior to coming to MB-F she worked as a knit machine operator, a bus driver, and worked in customer service. Flo’s hobbies include reading. She and her husband, Dimeatrious, have four children, Dominique, 12; Tondra, 10; Kiara, 7 and DeVante, 5.

DAN GUNSBERG Set-Up, Michigan

Gunny’s duties include repairing equipment, transporting and setting-up. He has worked for MB-F, Michigan, for 16 years. Prior to coming to MB-F, he worked as a mechanic, in parts delivery and in a factory. Gunny is single and his household includes a German Shepherd Dog, Shelby. His hobbies include pool, bowling and hockey. He finds it rewarding when we get compliments and says there are too many humorous experiences over the years to relate. Gunny wants MB-F clubs to know “we try to do it right.”

ANNETTE RICKMAN Ad Department/Pre-Press, North Carolina

Annette’s duties include pre-press imaging plates, scanning photos for ads and backing-up to disk for future use. She has been with MB-F, North Carolina, for eight years, beginning in the Bindery. Prior experience was in shipping and receiving for an auto parts warehouse. Annette has completed a Total Quality Management and Team Building course. She lists gardening, playing and running with her dog, as her favorite hobbies. Annette is single and her niece, Kelly, 17, lives with her. They share their household with a mixed-breed dog, Burley. “I learned how to use computers, imagesetters, photography, etc., through MB-F. I enjoy seeing the beautiful dog photos and do my best on each ad.”

MONICA BERENS Data Entry, Michigan

Monica does initial entry, completes entries and puts shows in order. She has been with MB-F, Michigan, for 8 1/2 years. Prior to coming to MB-F she worked as a dog groomer, trainer and bred dogs. Monica has an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts, French and Spanish and was nationally certified as a Master Groomer. She is single and her household includes four cats, Mom, Sebastian, Garbo, and Bongo, and two Shih Tzu, Brittany and Poppin. Her hobbies include reading, sewing, knitting and crocheting, cooking and home remodeling.

TARA CARTER Office, North Carolina

Tara’s duties include the switchboard, opening mail, running judges labels for mailings, retrieving entry forms for AKC and handling premium list and e-mail requests. Tara has worked for MB-F, North Carolina, for six years, beginning in the mailroom and bindery. Prior to coming to MB-F she worked in customer service. She and husband, Jeffrey, have a son, Devin, 8. Also included in their household are a dog, Sheba, and a cat, Tigger. Tara’s hobby is reading.

V. GALE PHILLIPS Supervisor, Ribbon Department, North Carolina

Gale is responsible for producing all the ribbons and rosettes for MB-F shows as well as outside orders. She wants to be sure you know there are seven ladies in her department who are all very good at what they do. Gale has been with MB-F, North Carolina, for 20 years, beginning in the Ribbon Department and working her way up to the supervisory position. She and her husband, Donnie, have two grown sons, Andy and Benjamin, who are both married and have children. Gale counts her grandchildren, gardening and traveling with her husband as her favorite hobbies and says her only pet at home is her husband. Gale enjoys the thank-you notes customers send when they are especially pleased with the Ribbon Department’s work. She’d like all our clubs to know “we aim to please. We set very high standards for our ribbons. If you compare our work to that of our competitors you will see why MB-F is No. 1. Your ribbons are the finishing touch to your show.”
