'Angel' is my first show puppy. I was looking for male odedience and agility dog. Angel was the first born in a litter of six - 5 girls and only 1 boy. At the puppy testing, she was not number one pick for conformation, that went to the male puppy. Infact, she was third pick. However, she showed a strong obedience temperament. She was the only puppy that did not run around between tests but was strongly attentive to the tester and the people in the room. I was so impressed that I gave up the idea of a male and picked her. As she grew, we realized we had a show puppy too.
'Angel' was named in honor Adam Petty, and not for her personality. She is a arch-angel - ready to compete. Adam Petty was a rising star in NASCAR with a winning personality and a big Petty smile. As a Petty fan, I wanted to honor his memory. Angel has a winning personality and a big smile too. She has honored his memory well. She started winning at only 7 months old. She has impressed many American and International judges. She was not the first of the litter to win a point, but she was the first to get a major. Her first major (3 pts) came at only 9 months of age. She followed that up the next month with 2 more majors - a 3 and a 4 pt. She was the first of the litter to finish. She finished her title at the very young of one year and one week of age. I believe she would have finished earlier had she a more experienced handler, but we learned together and loved it. Angel is a natural show bitch. She looks at a show like a kid does Disneyland. Fun, fun, fun!!! Angel is truely 'Astarz' in and out of the ring.
Angel will be specialed off and on over the next few years while she is being trained in obedience and agility. We plan to breed her winter 2004/2005, so long as she passes all her medical tests.
Angel will be the founding bitch to our new kennel - named VosDal. 'Vos' is Dutch for 'fox' and 'Dal' is Dutch for 'valley'.
My family and I would like to thank Donna Stekli for her wonderful breeding to produce Angel and all her mentoring to help me show Angel. I only wish that all new dog owners could have such a great breeder to deal with. Thank you Donna!!!
UPDATE: Angel is being bred to 'Fonze' Ch. Sherwood's Significant Other. The breeding will take place in March and puppies should be due in May. Fonze is a multi group placer and winner. He has won breed at Specialties and was ranked as the #8 Kees as of 11/03. Angel and Fonze have similar styles and looks. They share many great show dogs in their pedigrees. We are very hopeful to produce a strong litter.
Angel gave birth to 5 beautiful girls on 5-19-04. We kept one girl and named her 'Vickee' w/ the registered name of 'VosDal's Victory Junction' in honor of the Victory Junction Charity Camps built in honor of Adam Petty. Please visit her page.
NEWS FLASH ... 4/3/05 Angel's daughter Vickee finished her Champion's title on 4/205 at only 10 months old. She won Winners Bitch at 6 straight shows. Then won Best of Breed over 22 dogs, including 3 male specials, the very next day. Angel has 3 other daughters doing well in the show ring too. We hope to add their names to the list of Angel's champion children.
Angel will be bred again in 2006. Sire has not been picked yet, but I am looking for a male with a lot of the same qualities that I liked in Fonze.
***** Angel was breed to Cash - Ch Windrift's Mutual Fund. Cash was the #1 Keeshond in the breed for 2005. He matches Angel's looks, style, structure and movement. This was a nice line breeding. You can see Cash on the Windrift Keeshond website. The litter was born on 2/21/06 - 2 girls and 1 boy. Updates coming soon.
