In 2008, Bruce started his show career, at 8 months old, in Canada before the breed was recognized by AKC. While still a puppy, he finished his Canadian Championship, accumulating 15 Best Puppy in Group wins, and one Best Puppy in Show, the first for the breed. He also placed in the regular group several times. In 2009, he further accumulated over 100 Canadian group placements, including 17 Firsts, plus twice Reserve BIS and twice BEST IN SHOW. He is still the only Finnish Lapphund to win a BIS in Canada. Bruce took 2010 off, to wait for AKC recognition, then began his AKC career by winning GROUP FOUR on the DAY the breed was recognized (June 30, 2011). He finished his AKC Championship in three days and finished his Grand Championship two weeks later. He was also the first of the breed to win the Herding Group, which he then repeated a month later. He was #1 Finnish Lapphund, all systems, in 2011. In 2012, for the breed's debut at Westminister, he was the Best of Breed winner, handled by 13-year-old Mary Lee.
