The Working Group for the most part are large dogs bred to assist man in his work. They pull sleds and carts, guide the blind, serve as watch dogs and police dogs and perform many other specialized tasks according to the purpose for which they were bred.

Because of the wide variety of uses of the dogs in this group, there is great dissimilarity in appearance among its members. Most, however, are powerfully built and display unusual intelligence.
