James A. (JIM) Fehring [AKC #90519] of Shaman Cockers and BJ's Papillons has owned, bred and shown and trained Cocker Spaniels and Papillons. Several Shaman Cocker's AKC champions are listed as American Spaniel Club‘s ROM and LOM award recipients. Included are Multiple BIS dogs, multiple BISS dogs, National Specialty and Flushing Spaniel winners, Group winners and placers and AOM awards. These dogs included one of only 4 BROWN Cocker Spaniels to be awarded an all-breed Best In Show and the only BROWN Cocker Spaniel to win the Variety at Westminster and the only BROWN Cocker Spaniel to win the Variety at Eukanuba. He is also active in AKC Agility, achieving over a dozen AKC Agility titles and continues to train and compete as well as serve as Agility Trial Chair for Mid-Continent KC of Tulsa.
Mr. Fehring was a resident of Dallas/Fort Worth TX for over 20 years and currently resides in Bixby, OK outside Tulsa. Born and raised in Kansas, he attended both Pharmacy School and Graduate School at the University of Kansas. He holds a BS in Pharmacy degree and a Master of Business Administration degree in Operations Research. He continues to work as a technology manager for Emdeon, Inc. of Nashville, TN - Fort Worth, TX and Asheville, NC.
He is a Member of the American Spaniel Club (ASC Webmaster), Papillon Club of America, Mid-Continent KC of Tulsa (VP), Nolan River KC, Cocker Spaniel Specialty Club of Dallas (BOD), Cocker Spaniel Club of Tulsa (Secretary) and Papillon Club of Tulsa. For a number of years Mr. Fehring served as the Futurity Chair for the ASC Cocker Spaniel National Specialty. He is also a member of the Dog Judges Association of America & the American Dog Show Judges organizations.
He was honored to be selected to judge at the 2013 ASC Cocker Spaniel National Specialty to be held in Reno, NV. In January 2013 Mr. Fehring was honored to judge both the Clumber Spaniel Club of America and the Welsh Springer Spaniel Club of America Sweepstakes events at the American Spaniel Club Flushing Spaniel Show in Knoxville, TN.
He is presently permit/provisional status for Golden Retrievers, German Shorthaired Pointers, Irish Setters and Clumber Spaniels and All-Breed Junior Showmanship and regular status for Cocker Spaniel, Papillon, English Springer Spaniel and Brittany. Current plans include pursuit of approval for additional sporting breeds in 2013. He attended the American Kennel Club Sporting Group Advanced Institute in August of 2012.
