Gerardo Bernard
Gerardo Bernard
was born in Mexico City and has been involved in the dog world since 1994, when
he was 9 years old. His interest in dog shows began with his aunt, who
exhibited a Labrador Retriever and in 2001 they got their first German
Shorthaired Pointer. He competed as a Junior Handler right from the time he
first started in the dog world being awarded as Best Junior Handler of the year
several times and in the Top 4 Juniors between 1997 and 2003. As a Junior, he showed
Labrador Retrievers, American Cocker Spaniels, German Shorthaired Pointers,
Golden Retrievers, Dobermans, Bulldogs and Standard Poodle.
Along with his
aunt, he has bred Labrador Retrievers and German Shorthaired Pointers under the
FCI registered kennel name: "ALGERLAND". In 2008 they got their first
Weimaraner, placing him as the #3 in the group in 2009.
He has exhibited
dogs in both Mexico and the United States and has made up Mexican, American,
World, Grand Mexican, International, Pan-American and Latin-American champions.
He has shown and bred GSP's, placing them in the Top 4 of the Group in Mexico.
In 2003 Gerardo
was granted his Judge's licence from the Federacion Canofila Mexicana, A.C.
(Mexican Kennel Club) when he was just 18 years old. That accomplishment made
him the youngest judge in Mexico. He judged Junior Handlers for the first time
in April 2003 and on many subsequent occasions, including the International
Show SICALAM 2010. The first time he judged at an All- Breeds show and awarded
National Championships was in Expocan, one of the most important shows in
Mexico, at the World Trade Centre in Mexico City. Since then, he has judged in
shows in different states in Mexico. He officiated at his first Best In Show on
November 2008. On March 2009, he judged at the prestigious show in Mexico City: Tournament of Champions, organized once a year by Federacion Canofila
Mexicana, A.C. He has also judged in the USA, and in central and south America Countries.
He has assisted
at Judge's seminars, handler's seminars, training seminars and grooming
seminars both in Mexico and the USA; and has been speaker of the Junior Handler
seminar given by the Federacion Canofila Mexicana, A.C.
Gerardo
graduated from Panamerican University in 2008 with a degree in marketing and
business administration.
