ALVIN GROSSMAN, Ph.D

Dr. Grossman is currently the publisher of Doral Publishing, a leading publisher of Dog Books. He is approved by the AKC to judge all the breeds in the Sporting Group plus BIS.

With his late wife they were breeders of American Cocker Spaniels from 1949 until 1970. They bred 25 champions in 24 litters. Among them were Best in Show and Group winners. In 1965-66 they had a B/T dog that was a Top 10 All Breed winner. This dog was also Top Sire of the Year in 1967 and 1968.

Dr. Grossman began judging in 1973. Among his assignments has been officiating at the American Spaniel Club National on four occasions. Celebrated assignments include the World Show in Amsterman, the Paris International and the Beverly Hills Kennel Club. He has also judged at the English Setter, Golden Retriever and Vizsla National Specialties. He has judged the Canadian National Cocker Specialty on two occasions.

His judging career has taken him to the following countries: Denmark, Finland, France, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Phillippines, Russia and Taiwan, with multiple assignments in Australia, Canada, England, Netherlands and Sweden.

To date he has written five dog books and lectured widely on genetics, anatomy, judging and gait of the dog. Dr. Grossman is a syndicated columnist for 29 breed magazines and also writes for the Canine Chronicle. He has won numerous awards for his writing from the Dog Writer's Association of America.

Elected offices include three terms as President of the American Spaniel Club and two years as President of the US Lakeland Terrier Association. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of The Senior Conformation Judges Association.
