Richard Camacho was born in Hawaii and started his association with show dogs in 1968. To date this involvement has included successful showing and breeding programs in several breeds, international judging and a career as a Professional All Breed Handler of some recognition.

His initial breed was miniature poodles and in his fifteen years of involvement with the breed he bred and exhibited 25 champions including multi- Specialty winner BISS AM & Can. Ch Howlene’s Carousel of SerCam and BIS Ch Charobs Cherie of SerCam.

In 1972 the American Kennel Club awarded Richard his All Breeds Professional Handles License and he was in fact the first All Breed professional handler approved in the state of Hawaii.

A successful association with the Guys and Dolls English Setter kennel began in 1972 and developed many Best in Show winners including BIS,BISS Am & Mex Ch Ebtides Me and My Shadow who won the National Specialty in 1986.

Moving to California, Richard continued handling a large variety of breeds for many high profile kennels, his particular favorite breeds being many of the Oriental breeds including Chow Chows, Lhasa Apsos and Japanese Chins. In 1979 Richard met his wife Judith and together, under the kennel name of Jaro, they went on to breed and show 75 Lhasa champions including BIS, BISS Ch Jaro’s Shadow Dancer who went Best in Show at the World Dog Show in Italy in 1998.

Jaro kennels also produced 45 Japanese Chin champions with Richard having the great honor of handling BIS BISS Am and Mex Ch El Mac’s Shogun De Misdelie, the first Chin in forty years to win BIS at an American All Breed Show. This dog still holds the record of three breed wins in a row at Westminster.  Recently, Richard has shown BISS Ch Jaro’s Chnk-Kee Mun-Kee to the Eukanuba Best of Breed BBX award three times.

Richard is a popular judge and breed presenter in the USA and had completed appointments in Australia, China, Hong Kong and Japan. In 2008, Richard had the privilege to judge the Japanese Chin National Specialty in Oklahoma.
