Ann and her late husband, Herb, bred boxers for nearly 40 years under their kennel name SARKEL. The "SAR" portion belonged to their foundation sire Sarge and the "KEL" part for their foundation dam Kelley. Herbs first boxer was a Bangaway grandson and when it came time for a family dog the boxer was the only consideration. Their three children grew up in the capable hands of their parents and the even more capable paws of their boxers.
To date over 30 champions have been presented to the fancy as a direct result of their breeding program. Some of them include, Ch. Sarkels Stairway to Stardom, Ch. Sarkels Back to the Future, Ch. Sarkels One-Step Above, Ch. Sarkels Promise of Cross bars, CD, CGC and DOM, Ch. Sarkels Promising Future, DOM, Ch. Sarkels True Grit, Ch. Sarkels Still Steppin Up, Ch. Sarkels Step Right Up, Ch. Sarkels A Few Dollars More, Ch. Sarkels A Dollar & A Dream, Ch. Sarkels Strength To Dream and Ch. Sarkels Strength For Hi-Stand and Ch. Sarkels True Image By H-Stand. A Top Twenty Contender for 2004 American Boxer Club included the young dog, Ch. Hi-Stands How DoYa Like "Me" Now who reflects the very best of his pedigree steeped deep in the Sarkel line.
Over the years Ann has written a variety of articles for The Boxer Review and penned her first book in 1993, sharing her love and experience with the breed in a fictional story, "Sieg The Magnificent." A sequel to that first book will be published in 2011.
Ann was approved as an AKC judge for boxers in December 2008 and has enjoyed many assignments throughout the United States spending time in the ring with the breed she adores. She remains an active member of the Boxer Club of Oklahoma and the American Boxer Club spending countless hours helping to better the breed and to spread the word on the breed who has always been more than just a dog.
