After growing up with Fox Terriers, Carolyn finished her undergraduate degree and bought a Pekinese who was her world-traveling companion for the next 12 years. While finishing her masters and beginning advanced post graduate work, she owned Afghans and fostered rescue Afghans. In 1978, she married into Bull Terriers. The subsequent, limited Brigadoon breeding program has produced a series of American and Canadian Champions, including multiple Specialty winners, ROM and Group-placing Champions. Carolyn also showed and bred Akitas and was a member of the Golden Gate Akita club for a number of years. A retired Army Officer, Carolyn is a longtime member of the NCTA, BTCA, Del Monte KC, LADJEA, GSBTC, BCBTC, and MBBTC. Carolyn has been the MBBTC Newsletter editor for over 10 years, contributes articles to several national magazines and is a breed columnist for the AKC Gazette. Carolyn and husband David are active members of Galivan Kennel Club.

Carolyn attended the AKC Advanced Working Breed Institute, AKC Judges Institute, Senior Conformation Judges Institute, LADJEA and FBAJEA programs. Carolyn has judged in New Zealand, Australia, Netherlands, Canada, France, UK, Taiwan and China.
