Ed Wild grew up in Blenheim Ontario, a small town near the U.S. border close to Detroit. An elementary school teacher by profession, animals have always played an important role in his life.
In 1968, Apperwild Kennels was established, specializing in Basset Hounds. English Cocker Spaniels, Dachshunds, Beagles and a Scottish Terrier have been raised at one time or another, however, Bassets have always been the center of attention.
Ed has served as Vice President, Show Secretary and Show Chairman of the Kent Kennel Klub Inc., Show Chairman for the Basset Hound Club of Canada, and Secretary/Treasurer for the Association of South Western Ontario Kennel Clubs. He is currently a member of the South Western Ontario Judges Study Group.
Judging since 1987, Ed is an All Breeds judge in Canada and has judged there as well as in the United States, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Colombia, Finland and New Zealand.
