My name is John Bink I live in Canberra, Australia.
I am licensed to judge Hounds, Sporting dogs and the Terrier Group. I have had the privilege of judging these 3 groups all over Australia and New Zealand, including Hound Specialty shows, the Basset Speciality of NSW and the Basset Show in Christchurch New Zealand. I have also had the privilege of judging in America. I judged at the Texas Cluster in 2007 and had the honour of judging Best in Show on one of the days, and also the Long Beach KC shows held in conjunction with the 2009 Eukanuba World Dog Show.
I have been involved in the dog world since 1978, my first breed was the Irish Setter. I had much success in this breed.
I had Irish Setters for 10 years, then decided to go into a different breed, so that’s when I ventured into the Basset hounds in 1988. I started with one basset, CH Chakrata’s Oxford Bags, a tri colour dog who took the dog world by storm. He became a multi best in show winner and was the foundation dog behind my breeding at Earlingford bassets, where I have produced top winning bassets
To help my breeding program I have imported bassets from America and from Sweden. These dogs have also been successful in the show ring, all being multi best in show winners and I have now achieved over 90 Best in Show wins in both all breed and breed specialist shows.
Over the years I have been involved in many Kennel Clubs, I have been a Councillor on the board of Dogs ACT and have been a breed lecturer for Basset Hounds, PBGV’s and Irish Setters. I have also been involved in a show training program for beginners to the show ring.
