John L. Horan started his judging career in 1993 after spending many years as a Professional All-Breed Handler and member of the PHA.
Mr. Horan started showing his own dogs in 1962 after finally getting his first Weimaraner, the breed he wanted as a child. (His kennel name, "Johmar" comes from the first three letters of his name and the second three letters of Weimaraner.) His introduction to dog shows took place when he took his dog to Obedience class where the instructor, knowing a good dog, got him interested in showing.
Johmar Weimaraners are the foundation for many of today's top kennels, with many Champions produced by John in those early years.
Mr. Horan is affiliated with many specialty, All-Breed and Judges' Associations. He is also a longtime member of the Trenton Kennel Club. He is currently aproved for judging Brittanys, German Shorthaired Pointers, German Wirehaired Pointers, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Curly-Coated Retrievers, Flat-Coated Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, Vizslas, Weimaraners, Wirehaired Point Griffons, as well as Junior Showmanship.
John and his wife have recently relocated to Florida and he is now a member of the Manatee Kennel Club.
