Everything I do, I go whole hog. – As a young man in Florida I started shooting. (Targets only, I’m not a hunter.) I competed on a National level with pistols. Then I went into horses, American Saddle Breds. My horses did very well on the Florida circuit. Moved to California and started skiing, first downhill then cross-country. I became a national ski patrolman. Started instructing and became Vice President of the Far West Ski Assn., the Western branch of the USSA. Then because of this background went into Biathlon. (Cross-country skiing and shooting.) Instructed in this sport and became an official and director for the US Biathlon Assn. Worked with the Olympic team as an Official and participated in World, National and North American Championships. Then went into Archery and became a first level instructor and competitor.
Then my love for animals took over. --- I had a wonderful dog who TOUGHT me obedience and won everything he went into. My next dog taught me HUMILITY.
I have owned several dogs to an OTCH (Obedience Trial champion) in obedience and Championships in breed.
I became a trainer and then into handling Behavior problems.
I have trained over 25,000 dogs as of January 2004 in Novice, Open, Utility and competition handling. I have placed 4th in Gaines and several of my students have done as well and better.
I became an Obedience judge for AKC in 1990 and in UKC in 1998.
I hope I can get others to love and get excited as I am about the sport of obedience. Kudos’ to all people who love animals.
