First granted approval by the AKC in 1991, Carole is approved to judge the Terrier, Toy, Sporting Groups, all poodles, and Best in Show.
Carole has been active in purebred dogs since 1980, when she purchased a Wire Fox Terrier puppy that was a grandson of two famous Wires--Ch. Ayre Dominator and Ch. Sunny Brook Spot on. As soon as the puppy was six months old and she saw him in the ring, Carole was hooked for good. Since then, she has finished 29 Wire Fox and 35 Welsh Terriers.
Her homebreds have had a total of eight Welsh Bests in Show, and one Wire Best in Show. The Welsh have had both Obedience and Working titles, and one Champion had both a UD and a Tracking Degree. As a hobby and serious breeder, under the name of "SUNSPRYTE", she has had 25 litters of Wires and 43 litters of Welsh. She is believed to have had the only Welsh multiple Best in Show litter mates that also went Best of Breed and Best of Opposite sex at the same Westminster Show (1991). In 1999 at the Westminster Show, a homebred Welsh won the Terrier Group. Carole is in the Breeder's Hall of Fame of the Wire Fox Terrier Club of Central States, and also has a Dam of Merit (9 Champions get) in the American Fox Terrier Club.
Carole is a two-term past President of both the Welsh Terrier Club of America, and the Greater Venice Florida Dog Club, Inc. Other memberships include the Tampa Bay Terrier Club (1981 Charter Member), Welsh Terrier Club of Southern California, Welsh Terrier Club of Wales, Welsh Terrier Club of Canada, Wire Fox Terrier Club of Central States, American Fox Terrier Club, English Wire Fox Terrier Club, Greater Atlanta Fox Terrier Club, and the Everglades Terrier Club (Charter Member). She is the Chairman of Judges Education for the Welsh Terrier Club of America. She is also an active member in two professional steward organizations.
Until retiring, in 2006, she was a Professional Member of the American Institute of Interior Designers, licensed by the State of Florida to practice Interior Design, and owner of an Interior Design firm in Sarasota, FL, since 1969.
