Vern Harvey, originally from Memphis, TN, began his show career in 1972. After a move to Marietta, GA he became a member of both the Atlanda Kennel Club and the Kennesaw Kennel Club. He was also a founder of the Siberian Husky Club of Greater Atlanta.

In 1978, Vern was transferred to Tucson, AZ. That year he began training and running a sled team in competitions all over the Southwestern U.S. Vern joined the Tucson Kennel Club and has served in many capacities, including President. He was a founder of the Siberian Husky Club of Tucson and the Canada del Oro Kennel Club.

Vern has professionally handled, trained and shown most of the Working and Herding dogs. He also ran many of these breeds in competitive sled dog races. He was approved to judge by the AKC in 1990 and continues to race and show his own dogs in local competition.
