BURTON J. YAMADA of Lake Arrowhead, CA is an AKC judge, approved to judge Best in Show, the Working Group, Miniature Schnauzers, Misc. Breeds and Jr. Showmanship.  Burt started judging in 1989 and has been honored to judge at Westminister K.C. six times and the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship twice.  He judged Best in Show at Westminster in 2004, the Working Group in 2003 and in recognition was named “Person of the Week” on ABC’s World News Tonight.  He was also interviewed and featured on ESPN, ABC and HBO.  He has judged all over the USA and internationally in Japan, Australia, China, Korea, Taiwan, Italy, Mexico, Argentina, Columbia and Costa Rica.  In his 44 years in dogs, Burt has been active in All-breed and Specialty breed clubs and has served as President and/or Director for the Orange Empire Dog Club, Rio Hondo K.C., Standard Schnauzer Club of America and Standard Schnauzer Club of Southern California.  He is a Director and the Delegate to the AKC for the Orange Empire Dog Club and has served as their Show Chairman for the past 35 years.  Burt and his wife, Ellen, have two children, a daughter Michele, a dentist in San Diego and a son, Bradford, a partner of Argos Wealth Advisors LLC.  Professionally (now retired), Burt was the Director of Western Operations and Missile Systems for Northrop Grumman and now devotes his spare time to consulting, judging and his avocado farm.
