Anna Burke Harris' family were eccentric animal breeders and she grew up on a ranch where the pholisophy was "you don't eat until the stock is fed and watered." Her father bred Hounds, horses and cows; her mother bred Terriers, Weimaraners and Dobermans as well as Siamese cats. Her brother bred Beagles and has now been involved with four or five breeds of other dogs including Toy Poodles. One grandmother was noted for her Rhode Island Reds.

She has bred several breeds of dogs, but her greatest love is Non-Sporting and the "Bull" breeds. Mrs. Harris' husband grew up with many breeds, mostly British Terriers, and is an AKC approved judge. "All our dogs are couch potatoes."

In the Terrier Group she judges Bull Terriers, Miniature Bulls, American Staffordshire Terriers and Staffordshire Bull Terriers. In the Non-Sporting Group she judges Bulldogs, American Eskimos, Bostons, Dalmatians, French Bulldogs and Keeshonden. She is newly approved and "provisional" for some of the Non-Sporting breeds.
