Paul has been involved with show dogs and all that goes with it since 1953 when he and his wife got their first Irish Setter. Since that time, a large part of his life has been centered on dogs -- feeding, training, handling, showing, obedience training, breeding, puppy sales, advising and judging.
Paul has been President of the Irish Setter Club of Georgia, a Board member of the Irish Setter Club of America, three times Show Chairman of the Irish Setter National Specialty, a very active officer and Board member of the Atlanta Kennel Club, including editor of the club's monthly publication for more than six years. He was one of the founders and Vice President of the Judges Association of Georgia. He is a member of the national Dog Judges Association and the American Dog Show Judges, Inc. He has personally put on breed workshops and is still chairman of Judges Education for the Irish Setter Club of America.
He began judging in 1985, starting with Irish Setters, later expanding to 18 Sporting breeds, plus Chinese Shar-Pei. He is currently in pursuit of the six remaining Sporting breeds ("the rarest of the Group") to give him the entire Group. He has judged from Coast to Coast, including a variety of Specialties.
