A little background: Under the Sanchu prefix, my husband Chuck and I have been involved with Basset Hounds since 1968 and PBGV’s since their introduction to the U.S. in 1983 finishing some 100 Bassets to date. I was always an owner handler, finishing my dogs from BBX- until I was approved for the Hound Group. Currently write the Gazette column for the PBGV club, and serve as the PBGVCA Judges Education Coordinator. I have been Delegate to the AKC representing the Channel City KC, (Santa Barbara) for 8 years, am currently a member of the Board of the Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen Club of America, and coordinate the Scottsdale Dog Judges Workshop group. I also enjoy writing a scent hound column for Sight andScent-the all hound magazine. I give frequent presentations on the PBGVs and Bassets, those breeds I have bred. Have judged nationally and internationally for 25 years.
In 1987 my book, Understanding the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen (Orient) received a nomination for best breed book by the Dog Writers Association of America. It was the first book written in any language devoted exclusively to the PBGV.
I graduated from Wells College in Aurora, NY with a major in English and earned a Masters from Cornell University.
Today, I continue a partnership in Basset Hounds with Claudia Orlandi of Topsfield Knls. I have co-owned and/or co-bred the number 1 Basset for the last several years.
