Leonard S. Shulman has been involved in purebred dogs all his life. He was born and grew up in England, where his father bred English Cocker Spaniels. He continued with this breed after coming to the U.S. in 1950.
In 1965 he owned his first German Shorthaired Pointer, to have a versatile gun dog, and quickly learned the enjoyment of both hunting and showing his Sporting dog. Mr. Shulman has been most fortunate in German Shorthairs, owning and breeding Multi-Specialty winners, Group winners, Bests in Show in USA and Canada, and, for him, the Ultimate -- a National Specialty winner, and, having bred the #1 Producing Brood Bitch for field Champions, and a National win for another Brood Bitch.
Mr. Shulman started judging in 1982 and has judged many all-breed shows, Brittany Specialty and National Specialty, Chesapeake Bay Retriever National Specialties in the USA and Denmark, German Shorthaired Pointer, Viszla, Golden Retriever, Pointers, and Weimaraner Specialties, Retriever Group and Best in Show in Denmark, together with supported entries in sporting breeds.
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCES INCLUDE: Judging Specialty Match shows for Siberian Husky, Bulldogs, Australian Shepherds, Chinese Shar-pei and Bichon Frise.
Mr. Shulman is affiliated with many Specialty, All-Breed and Judges Associations. He is currently approved to judge the Sporting Group, Miscellaneous, Junior Showmanship and Best in Show.
