Virtual Dog Show Profile

[ edit profile ]

Have exhibited in AKC conformation for 46 years, mainly Shelties, came from the old "Working Group" before it was split. Participated in performance in Obedience since 1966, and have had dogs in Herding, and Agility more recently.  Have judged in AKC for 28 years, also some in Canadian KC, and more recently for IABCA/International for 4 years, and Rare Breeds shows.  Owned pre-ASCA & ASCA Aussies since 1961, judged for ASCA since 1978.  AKC approved for Shelties, Collies, Aussies, and All Breed Jr Showmanship which I taught for over a decade.   IABCA/ARB approved for All Breeds.  Worked for 4 years for an all breed PHA handler 1966-1970.  I also owned an AKC Miniature Poodle prior to Shelties, and several ASCA Aussies over the years.  I professionally groomed, also agent handled and specialed dogs for over a decade, mainly for a large kennel. Have judged National Futurity for Chinese Shar Pei Club of America plus had judged their pre-AKC specialties for several years.  Also judged the National Futurity for Xolos in 2008. Have judged Futurity for pre-National Cattle Dog show, and Conformation Versatility for their National.  Have judged several specialty matches or sweepstakes for GSD, Old English, Bouviers, Boxers, Rottweilers, Dobes, Pyrs also.  Have attended many Nationals and/or judges study seminars in multiple breeds, concentrating mainly on Herding breeds.  Have judged many matches - Herding, Working, Toy groups in particular, but judging for the International & Rare Breed shows has provided the best judging experiences overall with a wide variety of breeds, including many rare ones now in AKC or FSS.  In addition, I've judged specialty entries in Cane Corsos, Boerbels, Fila Brasileros, and judged in Germany in 2009.  As a breeder, my main contribution was breeding a Top ROM Sire (35 Amer/17 Can CHs), and finishing many dogs of my own and for others.  I've bred BISS and Group winners, along with top performance titled dogs in obedience, herding, and agility.  I never bred many litters and usually showed my own dogs.  I have given over 60 seminars, mainly in the two day format all over the USA and Canada on using genetics in breeding programs, and structure in the standards. My college background was in comparative evolution, genetics, and biochemistry.
