Rosemary McKnight comes from a strong Terrier background, showing her own Cairns and Skyes as a young teen in Scotland, then training in all branches of kennel management with a leading show kennel of Westies, English Cockers and Pointers. In 1959 she registered her Chantinghall Basset Hounds with The Kennel Club (England), and in 1967 with The Canadian Kennel Club.
In over 30 years of active breeding and exhibiting, over 100 championships were achieved in seven countries and on three continents, many top producers, Group winners and Best in Show dogs included. In addition she has bred and shown Beagles and English Toy Spaniels.
Mrs. McKnight began judging in England in 1961 and has been approved for all breeds in Canada for over 10 years. She has judged extensively in Europe, Canada, the U.S. and Australia.
She founded The Basset Hound Club of Scotland in 1965 and was honored with the invitation to judge at their 25th Anniversary Show. She is also a Life Member of The Scottish Kennel Club and a 29-year member of The Canadian Kennel Club.
