William (Bill) Oxandale became interested in purebred dogs in 1973, when he acquired a Miniature Schnauzer puppy. Shortly thereafter he began exhibiting in the breed ring and, although moderately successful, soon became interested in the obedience ring where he began to exhibit. There he gained a great deal of satisfaction by earning his breed's first Obedience Trial Championship (OTCh).
A modest breeding program produced several more dogs of excellent quality including another Obedience Trial Champion, and two breed Champions. He has shown his dogs in both rings, but mostly in obedience. Mr. Oxandale holds some 23 obedience titles on dogs he has owned, trained and exhibited.
Approved to judge at AKC Obedience events since 1980, he has officiated at more than 450 obedience trials and shows. In 1992, Mr. Oxandale was granted judging status in the breed ring for Miniature Schnauzers and Junior Showmanship. He has since been fully approved for Soft-Coated Wheatens.
Mr. Oxandale has Bachelor of Science degrees in both Mathematics and Physics, and a Masters degree in Business Administration. At present he is a retired Operations Research Analyst and lives with his wife of 42 years in Crestwood, MO. He is currently the Trial Chairman for the North St. Louis Co. Obedience Training Club and Treasurer for the Three Rivers Kennel Club of MO. His current activities include occasionally exhibiting in the obedience ring, consulting on tax-exempt status matters for dog clubs, and doing occasional desktop publishing jobs on his home computer. Last year he published his recently completed book, "Obedience Judging - A Beginner's Manual." It is the first and only book on this subject ever published and has received widespread approval.
