Colonel Chase has been actively training and showing dogs since the early 1970’s even though his military career restricted participation to but a few dogs. Both he and his wife Kathy train for conformation and performance events and until moving to Kentucky in 2006, handled their own dogs in both venues. They breed and show under the Mariner prefix and are proud Mariner Kennels continually produces quality Golden Retrievers equally at home in the show ring, the duck blind or resting comfortably on the family couch.
He is a 30 year member of the Golden Retriever Club of America, is a member of the Irish Setter Club of America, Yankee Golden Retriever Club, Golden Retriever Club of Greater Louisville, Mayflower Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club and the Lexington Kennel Club. Furthermore, he and his wife Kathy are founders and board members of the Nicholas County Animal Welfare Society, which in just the past year (2010) alone has placed over 500 strays and unwanted dogs in loving homes.
Colonel Chase served 25 years as a commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps, holds a master degree in Exercise Physiology and resides with his wife on a small horse farm near Lexington, Kentucky. In addition to his dog activities, he is active in the Hunter/Jumper community and enjoys competing with his Thoroughbreds across the south.
