John S. Ward Jr. was born and raised in Atlanta, GA. He has been in the insurance business his entire career. At present he is Vice President and General Manager of the Georgia office of RISCORP, a workers' compensation/managed care insurance company. He presently lives in Madison, NC.

He began raising and exhibiting dogs in 1961 with Doberman Pinschers. Three years later he applied for and received his judge's approval for Dobermans. He became inactive in dogs for several years due to business obligations.

In 1992 he became involved with English Cocker Spaniels under the kennel name, Dirleton. He presently has three dogs, Ch. Icedreams Jolly St. Nick, who is now retired, and Ch. Ainsley's Bad Obsession, who is actively being shown as a special. The third, Claramands First Lady, needs one point to finish.
