Carolyn Hensley
Exhibiting started in the horse and cattle arena's until the mid-sixties with the acquisition of a Standard Poodle. By the early seventies came her association with the Irish Wolfhound, under the HoneyVoo and Dalriada prefixes. The result of this association being that of successfully achieving top ranked animals in the breed. The hounds were both conformation exhibited as well as open field coursed. During the same period, Carolyn exhibited and finished numerous Scottish Deerhounds for the famous Dalmahoy and Shanid kennels of the late Freida and Paul Pilot. While conformation and coursing appealed to her enjoyment of the outdoors, Carolyn acquired Welsh Springer Spaniels for hunting purposes and managed to achieve titles on both ends with their work in the field.
During the eighties came a brief respite from the active dog show scene to concentrate on her young family and the completion of her advanced education. However, she still found time to exhibit and finish numerous dogs as well as select and thus co-breed with others in the toy, sporting, terrier and hound groups.
1990 marked an active return to the world of dog shows with an involvement with Yorkshire Terriers. As a small hobby breeder/exhibitor, her Yorkies rewarded her with recognition as National Select Breeder multiple times, along with having Register of Merit awards. The Rievaulx Yorkshire Terriers held top rankings in the USA every year from 1997 through 2001 when she elected to pursue an AKC judging approval. In 1998 Carolyn finished her first AKC Cairn Terrier who went on to be one of the top ranked USA Cairn Terriers in 2001. Her Italian Greyhounds, co-owned with the highly regarded Uwharrie kennel, have also achieved top wins over the years.
Successfully competing in other countries, Carolyn has over multiple Canadian Champions; under FCI competition her stock has been awarded a World Champion and a Junior World Champion along with six FCI International Champion titles as well as titles from Finland, Denmark, Netherlands and Mexico.
Carolyn is active member of Lake Mathews Kennel Club, Scottsdale Dog Fanciers Association, Yuma Kennel Club and Imperial Valley Kennel Club as well as being a long time member of the Canadian Kennel Club.
