Involved in purebred dogs her entire life, Diane’s first hound was a standard smooth “pet” dachshund. She acquired her first “show” standard longhair dachshund in the late 60’s which led to her involvement in conformation.
Diane’s “claim to fame” was her ‘bred by’ special, DUAL CH/CA/INT CH D and D Sierra Spirit V Shoney CD, JE, VC, ROMO. Spirit was one of the top ranked longhaired dachshunds in the country for several years. He won BOV at the Westminster Kennel Club in 1996, multiple BISS’s, over 230 Best of Varieties and a BIS – and was always handled by her.
Approved by American Kennel Club to judge Dachshunds in October of 2002, Diane now judges the Hound Group (still provisional for a few breeds.) She is also an approved AKC judge for Earthdog Tests and Field Trials and believes in putting a title on both ends of her dogs - all her dachshunds have been involved in Obedience, Earthdog and Field Trials and have multiple titles.
Diane belong to the Dachshund Club of America, Northern California Dachshund Club, Golden Gate Dachshund Club, Truckee Meadows Dog Training Club and two all breed club - Gold Country Kennel Club and Reno Kennel Club. She is a Board Member of both all-breed clubs.
In 2008, Diane moved to
