Robert D. Sharp, a naval veteran of World War II, was born in Brooklyn, NY. He is a graduate entomologist (fron Purdue), former President, Director and Vice President for several major national chemical companies. Bob exhibited his first dog, a Smooth Fox Terrier, in 1935.
He is a former all-breed handler and a Past President of the New York Boxer Club and American Lhasa Apso Club. He has bred or owned Affenpinschers, Boxers, Lhasa Apsos, Whippets, Brussels Griffons, English Toy Spaniels, Maltese, Miniature Schnauzers, Pugs, Toy Manchesters, Old English Sheepdogs, Wire and Smooth Fox Terriers, Poodles, Doberman Pinschers and Labrador Retrievers. "Bear", his Affenpinscher, was the very first in the world of his breed to achieve a Best in Show.
Bob Sharp has adjudicated in many countries including Argentina, Canada, Bolivia, Brazil, Mexico, Ireland, Columbia, Uruguay, South Africa, etc. He received the Ken-L-Ration Non Sporting Group Handlers award in 1972 and in 1994 the Ken-L-Ration Medal for Good Sportsmanship.
Bob, a former AKC Delegate, is currently approved to judge Best in Show, all Toys, Non Sporting, Terriers, Akitas, Alaskan Malamutes, Bernese Mountain Dogs, Boxers, Bullmastiffs, Giant Schnauzers, Great Danes, Mastiffs, Newfoundlands, Rottweilers and Standard Schnauzers.
