Eleanor Rotman grew up with Pomeranians in New York City. After getting married and completing her education she acquired a Miniature Poodle and promptly began obedience training in 1966. Soon thereafter she received enouragement from class members and began showing this dog, first in obedience then in conformation. One thing led to another -- she bred that bitch, then another and then turned her sites onto the Standard variety. She has bred and owned both Miniature and Standard Poodles and her dogs have been known to accomplish both their breed championships and obedience titles at the same time.

Eleanor is active within various kennel clubs in her area. She has been President, Show Chairman and headed various committees within the Ramapo Kennel Club. She has also served as President, Secretary, Training Director and Show Chairman for the Watchung Mountain Poodle Club. In addition, Eleanor was active and held various positions including Secretary for the K-9 Obedience Training Club of Essex County.

She served as a Delegate to the AKC for 14 years and was appointed to serve on the Advisory Committee for Judges Research and Development. She also chaired the committee that was responsible for revising the Junior Showmanship Rules. A member of the Association of Obedience Club and Judges, she served as Chairman of the D'Ambrisi award, hospitality and program. She is the Chairperson and organizer of the Tri-State Dog Judges Workship. For the past nine years, Eleanor has co-chaired the Handlers and Hackers Golf Tournament.

In private life, she is a school psychologist and an adjunct college professor. She has served as various committee chairman in professional organizations as well. Her credentials are listed in Who's Who in American Women.

She is eligible to judge the Non Sporting Breeds and Group, the Toy Breeds and Group and most of the Sporting breeds as well as all Obedience Classes. Eleanor has judged throughout the U.S., as well as in England, Australia, Taiwan, Colombia, Bermuda and Puerto Rico.
