I finished my first Yorkshire Terrier in 1972. I bred many Group winning and Specialty winning dogs, plus two that were Best in Show all breed. I bred over 25 Champions under the Shadomountin kennel name, one of the more noted was Ch. Shadomuntin Steppin Up and Ch. Shadomountin Sparrow Hawk. Sparrow Hawk was the Top Producing Sire in the YTCA for two years in a row which was quite a feat since he became sterile by the time he was 6 years, siring 25 Champions.
I began handling first to be able to support showing my own dogs, but then it took over my world and breeding went by the wayside. I had the pleasure of showing some really great Pomeranians, the first special was Ch. Precious Petites Gabriel, he won 12 Best In Show all breed and over 50 group 1sts, Four other Poms were guided to Best In Shows and became top winners. I showed Shih Tzus, Pekes, Maltese, and never had the pleasure of getting to show anything that wasn't hairey!
I decided to begin my judging career in 2002, It was the natural course of events for me. I have taken my time and gone slow. I have not felt the need to rush. I want to learn the breeds I am to judge, and do the very the best that I can, the serious breeders deserve that. I love the comraderie between the judges, and I have made some great friends!
I did not grow up in dogs as some in the dog world have. I have no less love of the sport though, and will continue to give it my best!
