DOROTHY K. NICKLES

Dorothy Nickles, a retired high school principal, is an AKC national and FCI international all-breed judge and is also approved for all obedience classes including tracking.

She was a breeder of both Poodles and Boxers and has shown with great success in both conformation and obedience in the U.S., Canada and Mexico; having the rare honor of winning Highest Scoring Dog in Obedience and Best in Show with her Standard Poodle at the same show.

Dorothy began judging in 1952, and after retiring from the educational field, has devoted her full time to judging throughout the world. She has written articles for magazines and newspapers; speaks to clubs; serves on seminars as time permits; gives her time and services to charitable shows and organizations, and especially gives her help to anyone for the asking.

An active Board Member of the Fort Worth Kennel Club, Dorothy taught obedience and tracking classes for 18 years and later was made an Honorary Member of the Tri-City Obedience Club.

She has judged in many foreign countries including Sao Paulo, Brazil; San Jose, Costa Rica; Finland, Norway, Spain, Japan, Mexico, Canada and others.

Dorothy was voted and honored by her peers as Judge of the Year for 1988 and received the Gaines Fido Award for Woman of the Year in 1994. She was also "roasted" by her friends in Houston, TX -- a life-long honor she will never forget.

Firmly believing that a dog is man's best friend, she thinks "judging is a pleasure, challenging, and most rewarding."
