My family acquired our first show dog when I was about five - so I litterally grew up showing dogs.  We raised and bred many litters of St. Bernards and a few Brittanys.  during my early years I showed a variety of breeds including: St. Bernards, Brittanys, Irish Setters, Lhasa Apsos, Great Danes, Newfoundlands and Silky Terriers, amongst others.  Over the next few years I was progressively successful in the Jr. Showmanship ring culminating when I qualified, competed and placed at the Westminster Kennel Club show in New York.

At the age of 18, after leaving the Jr. Showmanship ring, I applied for and received one of the first AKC Judges licenses available for Jr. Showmanship at the time.  After receiving my license, I judged several AKC shows and sanctioned matches until the late 1980's when I left the dog show ring to explore other aspects of life.  In 2003, I returned to the ring and since have been exhibiting our Flat Coated Retrievers in breed, rally, obedience, and agility. 

In 2010 I reactivated my Jr. Showmanship judge's licence, which is currently at the provisional stage due to the length of time that was spent away from judging.  I am now actively judging Jr. Showmanship and enjoy the interaction with the up and coming young handlers.
